Good Learning Environment

As a parent it is good to know what an effective classroom looks like and sounds like. Here are a few things that make up a good learning environment:
  • In an effective classroom the teacher will be praising students who are following expectations instead of correcting students who are not following expectations.
  • Students will be engaged by asking questions and responding, with their attention on the teacher or task.
  • The teacher will be checking for student understanding. This can be in the form of student verbal responses, holding up white boards, modeling with manipulatives, or telling a partner, etc.

The directors of PEERS love sharing anything that will help parents more easily be involved in their child's education and feel successful as a parent of a school aged child. We have all felt the struggle and found successes along the way that we want to share with you!
